In 2008 we saw a completely overgrown vegetation plot which included a natural stone ruin. A lot of imagination & spirit was going to be needed to shine this rough diamond! But thanks to the great contacts that we made through the German site of Markus Bosch and the direct practical help we received, our plans quickly took shape.

Paul and Carol bought this property in summer 2008, started works that winter and the works were completed by early summer 2009. Working for the National Trust, an advantage is that you can live on site in a historic building, but the downside is when you retire you need to find somewhere to live. In 1996 we discovered a property advertisement in Switzerland by Markus Bösch and we thought we had found the house that we had been looking for. We couldn’t travel immediately to Portugal and later received an email that another client had bought "our" house. We were very disappointed but decided to spend our vacation in Portugal that spring ´96 to look at houses with Markus Bösch.
