For weary city dwellers & nature lovers who want to develop self-sufficiency skills, this is the ideal place. A sparsely populated area near the lake, where nature largely determines the rhythm of life. Several stone houses in an abandoned hamlet to fix up, terraces with grapevines, diverse fruit trees, oaks and other trees. Over 7.000 m2 of fertile land with crystal clear water from a well and spring.
One of the registered stone houses is being inhabited in a very provisional way. The walls and roof are in a good condition.
The other ruins are also registered and can be rebuilt.
The area has a diverse flora and is very idyllic with nothing to hear but the sound of birds chirping. During the last years the property was inhabited and cultivated in complete harmony with nature, according to permaculture principles. There are lots of fruit trees on the fertile land, such as quinces, apples, oranges, olives, figs, walnuts, plums and medronhos.
Some of the land parcels are located about 150 meters away from the site of the house.
County of Oleiros, District of Castelo Branco. The direct surrounding area has no paved roads. Walking distance to the sleepy village Amieiras and to the idyllic lake for swimming, fishing or canoeing.
Approx. 14 km to Oleiros with full amenities, about 1 hour to Castelo Branco, 1.5hrs Coimbra, the Atlantic Ocean or Tomar.
